Ah, it\u2019s November. That means that I\u2019m writing. This year it\u2019s another novel, just as ambitious as the last one and in fact a kind of sequel to last year\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Those are the plans.<\/p>\n

Which means it\u2019s up in the air at the time I\u2019m writing this. (It\u2019s not quite Halloween yet in my timestream.)<\/p>\n

I have faith that my promised joy is winning NaNo again (this would be the fifth year) and then going on to finish another novel. Another novel I can be really, really proud of.<\/p>\n

So there will be write-ins, there will be early morning bashing at the keyboard, late-night furies of word spew. There will be coffee and probably some whisky. (More the former than the latter.) There will be hair pulling and gnashing of teeth. All the plot issues and word choices that stump me will be crushed and driven before me. I will hear the lamentation of their women.<\/p>\n

Well, maybe not that last bit.<\/p>\n

Anyway, I\u2019ll be listening to music (Hans Zimmer\u2019s Batman and Inception soundtracks, Thomas Newman\u2019s stuff, too) and sleeping little and eating poorly.<\/p>\n

I guess I should say I\u2019m not planning this, but I know this is what will happen. Four years of experience have taught me that it\u2019s unlikely not to go that way.<\/p>\n

Blogging will likely occur, though sporadically and quickly. Mostly just updates on word counts. There probably won\u2019t be any excerpts this year on the blog though it\u2019ll be tempting. Maybe just a line or two that doesn\u2019t reveal much but which pleased me. Maybe there\u2019ll be commentary on the Presidential election and how there\u2019s so little respect between the two parties any more. Maybe I\u2019ll save all that for December.<\/p>\n

Or maybe not.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re getting the sense that I\u2019m kind of all over the place on what\u2019s going to happen during NaNoWriMo, you\u2019re right. All I know is that I\u2019ve got a whopper of a story I really want to tell and that all my prep work over the last month has gone into getting that story ready to tell.<\/p>\n

Along with all the other Confabulators and the members of the Writer\u2019s Group, we\u2019re going to support one another by chatting, meeting, and cajoling and pushing each other to finish the work. To get the story told.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s novel has a tentative title of Organ of Record and is more science fiction than anything else. It\u2019s not as sprawlingly star-spanning as last year\u2019s, but it is big in its ideas. More to come on that.<\/p>\n

So it\u2019s November. It\u2019s NaNoWriMo. I\u2019m writing. I\u2019ll say hello when I can.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
